Beginner Piano / Keyboard Tips

Firstly, For anyone starting off learning any type of instrument the MOST IMPORTANT tip I can give you is Practice, Practise, and Practise.     Every day. And you WILL succeed.

Secondly, Play Music You Enjoy. This is very important for learning to play the piano because if you make sure to play every day, to have consistent improvement, you may as well play music you enjoy whatever genre that may be.

Thirdly, Learn Your Theory! Although its dull, theory is a fundamental part of learning to play.

Use these helpful acronyms to remember the notes of the grand staff, starting at the bottom of each staff and going up:

  • Bass clef lines: Good Boys Deserve Fudge Always
  • Bass clef spaces: All Cows Eat Grass
  • Treble clef lines: Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge
  • Treble clef spaces: F A C E

“I’ve finally managed to play after a year of slogging away trying to learn to read music. I have literally tried everything I found online to learn and I was considering giving the piano away to a friend when fortunately I found your lessons. Thanks a lot! Cheers”

Finally, Don’t Rush Yourself! If you’ve read my review you’ll know that I tried to rush the learning process because when you are taking private lessons you can’t really afford to take your time. However be sure to learn at your own pace. Also, a Slow Tempo is always recommended for beginners so keep that in mind! Good Luck!
